With all of the Internet marketing books that are available, it seems to me that many are dated by the time they go to press. However, many of these books offer very useful information to get you started, and provide a solid clarification of the basic elements.
In order to stay ahead of the curve, I prefer downloadable e-books, e-booklets and blog sites. These informational formats are usually very current, and address the the ongoing changes regarding SEO.
It is also interesting how some of the Internet marketing experts differ in their opinions and suggested approaches. To that end, I don't consider subscribing to one, or another's opinion. I implement both approaches, and the results steer me to the most viable alternative.

My Meeting With A Large Public School System Director
Today, I met with a director level individual at a major school district in the Mid-West. We discussed cost cutting measures that I could provide the school system. Later in the conversation, he mentioned that he was retiring within the next few years and asked me what I thought he should consider as a business to run in his retirement years. I mentioned that he should select an industry that has products, or services that are consumable over a 30 day period, appeals to the masses and has an autoship option. In fact, I suggested that he get into the business that I am representing, because it has a great value proposition that will certainly save the school system a lot of money. He seemed to be very receptive to that thought.
So many people face these decisions as us baby boomers approach 60! Look at it as a journey to new found freedom. Works for me...

Making the Transition From Corporate to Home Based Business
Today, I attended another seminar to learn more about how to run home based businesses over the Internet and use online marketing tools to promote my web sites. This is very exciting for me, because the instructor presents the material in an easy to follow format. I always thought that one would have to be very experienced in IT to be successful in these areas, but it is not the case. What's really great is that I now have the time to go to as many seminars as I choose because I am no longer tied down to a 10 hour day at a corporate position.
I am also very open minded to adding additional businesses to my home based business portfolio and am researching products and services that appeal to the majority of the market place such as training for successful Internet marketing.

Rick Clifton's Journey from Corporate to Home Based Businesses
Having spent 30 years in corporate marketing and sales, I am very excited to have my own, home based businesses. What I like the most is the freedom to make my own decisions about things that are most important to me and my family. In fact, I have included my family as partners for each of the home based businesses we represent. I also enjoy the flexible hours that aren't available in the corporate world. This allows me a better quality of life and the chance to spend more time with my family and friends. After all, that is what really counts in life. So, things could not be better. In fact, I should have made this decision to leave the corporate world many years ago, but the opportunities then were not what they are today. Anyway, I now look forward to every day, and yes....even Mondays !!!!
